If you have 4.10's, there is no more of a direct relationship of throttle to torque. I believe what you meant was that it's more sensitive to throttle changes. Small changes in throttle will give you much quicker changes in TQ. To me, that would make it even more difficult to control since you would have a harder time smoothing out your launch.

The 4.10's will spool up much faster than the 3.42's once you break traction, so I'm not sure what you mean when you say that the 3.42's spool up like crazy.

BTW, do you have 4.10's?

The only reasons that I am still running 3.42s are..

1) The 10 bolt is a POS, and going to a smaller pinion (4.10) will make it even weaker.

2) The 3.42s will make for a fun street car once my Procharger goes on.

For a given change in RPM the 3.42s will spin the tires less. Think of it this way, you are going 10MPH and you break traction with 3.42s. The higher gear spins more for a given RPM, so when your tach hits 4,500 they are spinning at 38 MPH. Do the same with 4.10s, and the tires are spinning at 30MPH, so it will not take as long to for them to stop spinning.

Trust me, it works in real life, not just on paper. This is from observations with a lot of cars that I have driven and that my friends have owned.

it really is all about traction. make more power have less traction. drag radials will work wonders. i will guess 12.90's

ET Streets or Nittos

Would i be better off running street tires then swapping to et streets or running nittos all the time and then playing with tire pressure at the track. Please any info would be much appreciated Gotta do something about this fast car running slow times!

I wouldnt worry about it too much.. I believe a lot of people are in OUR position of powerful cars which cant get the power to the ground. My times got considerably slower after my cam install from regular bolt-ons and a friend of mine can barely break out of the 14s with his heads/cam 355 because of the same reason. Tracks around here arent too great w/o some sticky tires.
