head question?

How much would it cost on average (i know prices may vary) to get the stock LT1 heads ported? And, what would i ask for to be done? Size of port, or a certain dimension for the port? Im clueless when it comes to heads. Second, what cam would be best for this? I dont want a huge one, but bigger than hotcam. I want one that both would be good for stock heads and ported heads. This would be for a car that would be used off and on as a daily driver. Mostly just weekend use, but it might be needed for daily driving. Any suggestions? thanx

I went with the XE 224/230 for a daily driver/A4/stock heads/going to get heads done sometime down the road scenario. Working out pretty well thus far, fun cam.

As for the heads, do a search on user names SkarodoM and Nighttrain66. Those two do heads and have established a great rep. Between the headwork, valves, springs, blah blah, I'd be expecting somewhere between $1200 to $1500.

As jkipp84 said, go with one of those two guys. You will NOT be disappointed.

I'm running heads that I had done by Joe Prince Racing (JPR), in New Jersey. I had him do larger valves (2.00"-1.56"), and a "race port" port job. My flow #'s are above average for LT1 heads...They flow 271 CFM @ .550"!

To date, my full weight, stock 95,000 mile bottom end '93 Z has went 12.38 @ 111.9 MPH with these heads, CC305 cam, and MAC mid length headers...AND...My converter is waaaay understalled. With my new 9.5" converter I should be in the 11's.
For a complete mods list of my car, you can check my web page.
