I am definately no expert but I just finished my heads after 49 hours of porting and polishing. I got tips from the big boyz. here is what they told me. As far as the exhaust ports are concerned.....you don't wanna match port them like the intake runners. For the exhaust port you need the step from the headers to the heads. Also FROM what they said this is what I did. I took some material off the guides and raised the roof of the port a little. The exhaust ports on the LT1 heads flow pretty well from the factory so not much needs to be taken out. You don't wanna go to far and grind into the water jacket which is close. I just took some off the guides.....the roof....and polished them up like a mirror with some cross buffs.

good luck. Take your time.

On your intake did you trim the gaskets a little over sized that way you get more flow?
