Yes the spring pockets need machined for the double springs. I wouldn't suggest hacking at them your self. I used the beehive when I put the 306 in my car. You have to buy new retainers so you can choose to use stock locks or not. I didn't want to pull the heads for machining so thats the route I took. Seems to work alright by the #'s in my sig.

Not sure on your other mods but definately headers and catback to let that baby breath. To go with the cam install you'll need hardened push rods, guide plates, NSA rockers, gaskets, and I went with the LT4 Extreme duty timing chain set to keep the waterpump stock, computer tune, spark plugs, I went with the over the valvecover wires to keep from burning them off on the headers. It'll set you back some cash but it'll put a big smile on your face everytime you winder up past 3000 rpm.

I'm sure the stock chain would safice but my project isn't stopping at cam only. The stock heads hp peaks at 6000 anyhow.

If you aren't going to turn past 6k, don't get the cc306.

i never understood that either..the cam specs. from what i've read and heard the 306 revs much higher then that. my cam start pulling real good at the higher rpm's and its not as big as the 306
