for the last week or so my head liner has started to sag down right above my head and it really annoying. I have heard of some spray adheasive made by 3M. Has anyone used this stuff, it is any good and where do I get it? Or is there a better way to fix the head liner with out buying a whole new one? Thanks guys.

I have used the 3M stuff a long time ago, and while it may work, if it is done incorrectly it will look like a**, and after a while it will start to sag again. Your best bet is to actually go out and get a new headliner (Year One), or see if someone on the board is selling one.

Yes, you can use the 3M adhesive stuff, but let me tell you, it's not really a fun task.

You will first need to pull the material of the headliner off (this is of course after taking the headliner out of the car...). Then - if your foam is still in good shape, your'e not that bad off. The foam is very soft though, so there is a good chance that it may tear when you pull the headliner away, so use caution. I don't know really if it would help, but you may want to try using some steam or something to try and break the bond on loose better.

If the foam needs to be replaced, you CAN replace it - you will have to sand down the headliner mat, getting it almost spotless of any foam still stuck to it, and then spray down the headliner/foam with the 3M adhesive, and reapply it.

If not - then you are in pretty good shape. Just spray down the foam with the 3M, and VERY CAREFULLY put the material back on. The 3M glue is super tacky, so where it lands, it likes to stick. Just take your time, and really exercise caution.

You can pick up the 3M adhesive at most fabric shops and possibly Wal-Mart in the crafts section. Can't remember exactly what it's called on the can, but it is a red, white, and black can. Does say 3M adhesive on it - not many to choose from like it.

Now that I have said all of that - you would probably be better off taking it to an upholstery shop and letting them do it for you.

What's the Year One part number, or what page number? In my 2003 catalog I can only find for up to '92, no headliners for the '93's and up.

What color is it? A new headliner from GMpartsdirect (P/N 10279501 - Graphite) is $82.78. - That is for a car without T-Tops.

Thanks for the help guys. I checked gmpartsdirect and yeah you save money on the head liner but then they want $50 shipping. I would rather spend the extra $10 and just buy it from the local Chevy dealer.
It looks like I will just get a can of spray adheadsive and try that first. I just bought a house and don't have an extra $100 or so to spend on the car. So if a $4 can of spray gets me buy for the next year or so.....

Where can you get that foam that goes under the headliner? It is about 1/8" thick I think. Would an upholstery shop sell the foam?

If you have collision insurance, put on a pointed hat and drive over a speed bump, thus causing you to bump your pointed head on the headliner punching an unsightly hole in it.

Report the accident, pay the deductable, and get yourself a new, installation included, headliner.

Just get a new liner....it will look better and last longer then using the 3M. If you can't get one right away, just take out the old liner. I did that one mine sagged. I think it looked better not having one at all for a few weeks then having a sagging one.

I say rip it out and shave all the unneeded weight (2lbs)!

My suggestion is to take it out yourself and take to an automotive apoulster shop. It is really easy to take out and you bring the whole thing to them. When mine started to sag I took it to a shop and it was only 65 dollars for them to put the new liner material on. Also the headliner material comes with the foam on it and then you glue it to the fiber board so be carefull taking it out so that you don't damage the fiber board. If you have to replace that it is like 200 bucks or something along those lines. Hope this helps.
