Re: Head Gaskets

I have heard it is best to use the old BOLTS if possible. They should be checked very closely and cleaned up, but I am not too sure.

Re: Head Gaskets

I have always been told NOT to reuse head bolts something about them being torqued and then re torqued. Intake bolts I reused mine but for heads I would spend money and buy new.

For 29.99 EACH no way would I buy those. You can get ARP bolts or even ARP heads studs for far cheaper. It is best to use new bolts, to obtain an accurate torque reading. New or old that is your call, but you mine as well put new ones in while you have it apart. If it were me In would go ARP bolts or studs. Hope that helps.

Re: Head Gaskets

ARP head bolts will be fine, and they're only $55 for the entire set.

Ehh that guy is crazy and just trying to make mony. Take them back and get the ARP bolt/stud kit. There alot stronger then stock and they come with a cool sticker.

Re: Head Gaskets

The newer LT1's came with torque to yield head bolts that mustn't be used again because they're stretched to the yield force. Get a set of ARP 134-3601 bolts, they are strong and you can tight/loosen as much as you like.
