Well I stripped out one of the head bolts while try to get the head off. Soo i tried to drill the bolt out and missed a little and buttered up the head. Is there any way to fix this or am i going to have to buy a new head??

Re: Head destroyed

I would think that this could be fixed by a good machine shop, maybe a good welder if needed.

Re: Head destroyed

Depending on how messed up the bore is, sleeve it like is done on max port heads, counterbore the top and press a plug of aluminum in there, then re-drill from the bottom to fix the top sealing surface...would have to see a picture not exactly sure where you mean you drilled...

Re: Head destroyed

do u mean one of the header bolts? the exhaust manifold bolts broke off in the head? that happens alot, if you ruined the threads in the head for the exhaust manifold bolt u can take it to a machine shop, most likely they will just helicoil it

Ohh - I didn't read that compleately....if you mean the exhaust bolt, then that is pretty easy even if you messed up drilling it out. At the worst the hole gets welded up and tapped...take it to the machine shop.

Re: Head destroyed

Whats so hard to understand people? He broke off a head bolt, tried to drill it out, and must have gotten offcentered and drilled into the head

Take the head off and get it to a machine shop. Or if you dont care about your engine (high miles?), and its not that bad, just replace the bolt and dont worry about it
