Unhappy Head bolt leak

When I built my 383 stroker motor 3 yrs ago I used ARP studs all around on the mains & heads.

I also used ARP thread sealer on all the studs for the heads.

Now I have a leak coming from the stud on the bottom row by cylinder #3

Is there some thing that I missed or should have done to prvent this?

After I put the studs in it sat for about 1-2 days before I put on the heads if that matters at all.

Re: Head bolt leak

I have heard of studs being prone to leaking for a while now. My machine shop guys said it was nothing to worry about, so I went with studs. After about 20 minutes of run time there was water seeping out between the block and head on the passenger side.

Apparently ARP will tell you to add some of that radiator stop leak to the cooling system. I have also been told that the cooling system tablets that GM sells work very well- that's what I'm going to try.
