HD electric water pump?

Okay i am going to buy an electric water pump. I need to know if i can run the Heavy duty version. It says you need major modifications to use it on an f-body. I was wondering if anyone is running a heavy duty Merize electric water-pump and what all they had to modify it. Or should i just get the regular version and be done with it.

I have the HD Meziere. I put it on when I still had the stock motor. I dont know what they mean by highly modified... but mine works just fine.

Summit sells their own Electric WP that has a 10,000 hour life compared to the 2,000 hour life of the Mez. I'd think that's a bit more HD myself. It costs less too.

Yea but summits stuff is always cheaper.....that's why they sell it cheaper. I guess i'll just get the HD and see how much modifiying it needs....if it's just the fan shroud i took it you needed to cut some away anyway...even with the regular duty one....so if it's just cut more of the shourd on the fan then i'm doing it.
I just needed to know quick so i can order it by the end of the day....thunderracing is having a little sale up to the 26th

I am just saying I'd rather replace one every 10,000 hours over 2,000 hours, but its up to you. Good luck, as far as I know Mez. doesnt use the ceramic seal like the CSI and Summit models do. They claim it gives the pump longevity.

The HD pump is a little longer, I think it was 1.5" longer when I spoke to Meziere last year.

Thanks for the info. I am sure those are both great units it's just i do not like how the CSI and others you have to modify the housing, and i have never been thrilled with summit brands. I am really not worried about the 2,000 hours......that will last me years. Right now i drive it about 1 hour a weekend....so that would be 52 hours a year. It will take a while to get to 2,000. It's more than you think.

2000hours at an average speed of 55mph that means 2000x55=110,000miles
Even the mechanical ones wear out at 110,000miles........so i really doubt a electric water pump can go 10,000hours. 10,000x55=550,000miles---I'd say that's just a little high........lol You'll have gone through two motors by then....lmao

So i would guess you just cut more of the fan shroud. Thanks guys

Re: HD electric water pump?

The modification of the pump housing with the CSI is no big deal, maybe an 1/8th inch or so....and you wont have to modify your fan shroud any....
