Street Twin Driveability Poll

Well if you look through some of my old posts, i had always said the street twin wasnt very street friendly IMO. I had driven my buddies car and the clutch was too heavy, and i found it next to impossible to get a smooth start on it without bogging or spinning.

Fast forward... Just installed one in my car as I am to the point in modding where i really need it. Total opposite. Clutch is heavier than stock, but not bad at all. Also seems like mine is easy enough to get started from a stop without being jumpy.

I thought it would be interesting to put up a poll for those with street twins, to see what they say about how street friendly they are, little info for people researching the clutch.

Before breakin it's damn near impossible to launch w/out chirpin the tires. Grabby is a understatement. But once it's broke in it's just a little heavier than stock and can be slipped w/ out a problem. I have to get on it every now and then just to make sure it still grabs. Clutch ain't no joke. This is how good it grabs. Rear main seal is leaking all over the flywheel and the disc is soaking it up causing it to slip but I can still romp at it at will and get the tires to chirp in 1st just letting off the clutch. I can almost take off in 5 gear it slips so bad. I love this clutch and worth every penny.

Just don't torque it down wrong because it will let you know about it immediately.

Re: Street Twin Driveability Poll

before I got mine, most of what I had read said it was very grabby and not too street friendly, but I would disagree. The biggest difference for me is how heavy the pedal is, but otherwise, it is very streetable. It is not hard to take off smooth either as some have said, definately not an "on/off switch" as I saw one person post a while back.

oh yeah, mine only has about 600 miles on it, and about 400 are highway miles, so it probably isnt even broken in yet.

Re: Street Twin Driveability Poll

i was a lil on the fence w/ my poll but i picked the tolerable w/ noticeble pedal.. I originally had a SPec STage III prior to the twin and that was grabby.. Bought the twin.. and i have always been very pleased w/ its performance.. LIke someone getting into someone else's car.. Take some getting used to .. after that.. its pretty nice.. Pedal effort is there but its not my leg hurts while sitting in 3hrs of NY Traffic (I have done it)..

GRABS AND STICKS... It's great for a well moded car...

It does however take some getting use to when it comes to take off...

I'm still a little jerky from time to time during take off... but with a little gas off the line it takes off like a beast...

Later,

It's got a more heavy pedal than the stocker, but it's buttery smooth. Definitely more grabby too. I like it! You just need to make sure you either have a stout driveline or finances for one if you want to run a sticky tire.
