Having trouble with my EGR

Im out in the garage trying to get off the two bolts that clamp the EGR into the back of the intake, cuz im gonna block it off with a plate so that exhaust gas doesnt go into the intake, but it will still look like i have an egr, plus it wont take much work. However, im having extreme difficulties getting off the two of those bolts. Anyone have any input for me? I was trying to think of a better way to eliminate the EGR, but i figured that was the best way. Please help me out, i need to get rid of the bog and studder on my LT1

Do you know for certain that the EGR is the cause for your studdering. When I was searching for the cause of my hesitation/missfiring/studder, it turned out to be a dead O2 sensor. Nothing much is to be gained from removing the EGR anyway.

You'll have to use a open box end wrench, attack it from the drivers side, its tight be can be done, I think got 1 bolt from the drivers side and one from the pass side. I think its a 14mm maybe 15mm...

Took me about 20 mins....

Yep, the key is a boz end or open end wrench. I know I had tried with a socket, and struggled for a long time on it. Pulled out the box end wrench set and had it in less than 5 minutes.

I recall it being a 13mm. (But I wouldn't put money on it, my memory is terrible).

I've gotten the EGR code before. Turns out the pintle was gummed up with build-up, and keeping it from moving properly. I just took some WD-40 and sprayed on it, and moved it back and forth with my fingers. Then I checked all the vacuum lines to make sure they were in place, started it up, and the SES light hasn't come on since.

I used a 1/2 on mine. I blocked mine off too. Used a Dr Pepper can .

I had to use an open ended wrench. Didnt take long.

½" is the size of the nuts for the EGR valve and EGR pipe.
