Having problems
Having problems
I having problems with my 95 Z28 LT1. It has been running rough seemed to lack power at times and when it I accelerate it seems to surge. I replaced the spark plus and the wires give a good plark but that was no help. I'm getting fuel, so it's not a pump fuel problem unless fuel pumps are known to be intermittent. At times it back fires multiple times during acceleration. Could it be the Opti or bad injectors? I would like to know which direction to take since I'll be doing the work myself.
Great forum by the way, I wish I would have found it sooner for other problems.
Thanks

Re: Having problems
Surging and running rough can be a sign of an air leak. The first thing I would do is remove the intake elbow and inspect it closely for any kind of abnormality. There is also an easy way to check vacuum lines too.
You say you have fuel but is it at a consistant pressure? Particularly when the problem occurs? A fuel gage with a hose taped to the windshield can tell you that.
How many miles on the engine? Has anything been done that you are aware of?
Does the running problem show itself when the car is sitting still or does it have to be moving?

Re: Having problems
good points start from what speedy said, also has the fuel filter ever been changed, another thing to check is start the car up late at night when its dark out and look under the hood by the plugs/wires and check for arcing wires, you'll see firework type stuff going on its very obvious at night
