Having a hard time getting the balancer hub off, any suggestions?

Getting ready to do a cam swap, I bought a balancer tool. I crank it down with a rachet, but it is getting very tight. Any easier ways to accomplish this?

if it like the tool i had it will work and will not. I will only work if you put a bolt down the center of the hole were the hub bolt is. The bolt is like an inch or two down, so you need something for the tool to sit on. So place a screw with a slight notch on the top of the head. Put it in the hole so the bolt sets on the original hub bolt and the tool will push off of that. Hope that makes scense.

I will be honest i ws drinking to night so..... If you don't use the bolt you will pull the hub arms and bend them

Take a look at this pic of the hub. When you use a normal balancer remover, you are still pushing on the hub in the center. On most other cars you would be pushing on the end of the crank, but you can see that the LT1 hub is made differently.

That is why you must use something that goes into the crank in the middle and sticks out farther than the hub for the puller to push against. A longer bolt, threaded in all the way could work. You can use something else, but make sure you can get it out. Whatever you use, make sure it is strong and won't bend or harm the threads.

I have pulled quite a few and I have a allen head bolt I use that is just a little smaller dia. and a inch or so longer then the hub bolt. Slide it in the put the tip of your puller in the head of the bolt then it won't be able to slide off to the side and bind up. I've has some that took some good force on a breaker bar to get moving. Good luck.

I used a 5/16 X 4" allen head bolt. The allen head helps keep the center bolt pushing directly in the center. If it's off-center at all, the hub won't come off.
