Have Mac Headers, Off-road Y, and Flowmaster - Hate it - Options?

Just as the subject says...I've had Mac Headers with an off-road Y-pipe, flowing through a Flowmaster cat-back for a few years now. And the sound is really starting bug me. I don't like it at all. It's too loud, raspy, and it resonates in the car pretty bad. I know what I 'can' do, but if someone could help me out with some insight on those options, I'd really appreciate it.

1. I know I could go with true duals. But could I do that and be able to find a Y or an X pipe that would mate up to my Mac headers? Or have some sort of intermediate pipe?

2. I could get a different cat-back that's quieter. (Magnaflow or something of the like that's stainless.) I'd like to car to rumble good and deep, but I just don't want this 'Flowmaster' raspy sound. I'd just like to go a little quieter than what I have.

Any advice??

maybe try putting a bullet muffler right behind the Ypipe. it should help the rasp. least it did on my magnaflow.

I did the same with my magnaflow and Macs and it sounds delicious. A nice deep tone with very little rasp.

That's a good idea. I think I'll try it.

I loved my Flowmasters with stock manifolds. The car sounded great. Once I got the headers and Y-pipe, it changed the sound too much. I thought once the muffler broke in, it would sound better, but it didn't.

Which cat-back is considered the most quiet besides stock?

Thanks for your thoughts guys!

Flowmaster holds up alot of exhaust tone inside the muffler to get their signature sound, that equates to alot of interior resonance. I'd either switch catbacks or mufflers.

Don't have to replace the whole catback, I'd just replace the muffler with something that gives you a warm and fuzzy

I just hacked my Mac muffler off in favor of a Hooker Aerochamber.
Then I added a cutout.
