I have had a miss in my car for a while now and I posted about it a few times over the last month or two. After numerous attemts of trying to fix it I finally found out what was causing it to miss. My opti somehow was getting oil in it. I guess through the vent hose and not just a little but enouph to where it would run out of the opti. I put in a new opti and blocked off both vent hoses because thats were the oil was coming from (intake vent hose). I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar problem. Thanks.

Oh just to let you know my car runs great now.

 

How can oil be coming from the fresh air intake to the opti?

 

It was coming through the hose that goes to the intake manifold. The hose had oil in it to and I have no idea how that could happen it had two check vavles in the vacume line. I just blocked both the lines off because I diddnt want the fresh air to get in and have no were to go. If there is anywhere anyone knows of that oil could have gotten in my opti please let me know because it might have gotten in somewhwere else(I have no idea where) and then the vacume line suck it up. The oil could be coming from the vac lines, but the opti slides into a circular oil seal on the timing cover- where it gets driven from. I'm guessing oil is getting past that seal and coming into the opti that way. Maybe there's a bad seal on the opti too?
