Harmonic Dampener w/ Underdrive pulleys???
Harmonic Dampener w/ Underdrive pulleys???
Well, I have noticed how far my harmonic balancer sticks out on the crank and I was worried about damage to some of the bearings due to more weight on the end of the crank since I am using March underdrive pulleys. I wanted to get a fluidampr (sp?) harmonic dampener to get rid of some harmonic vibrations as well as take off some of that extra weight on the nose of the crank. Will the fluidampr work with the March pulleys, or will it not fit???
Has anybody ever done this before??
Thanks

I don't think this is posible. The fluidampr unit is one solid piece. The hub and pulley are one. You could always ditch the pulleys since they don't do much of anything anyway.
A second note is that you shouldn't be causing any problems. The pulley setup should be "neutrally" balanced so the small amount of added weight really shouldn't affect anything.

Okay...that clears it up...I wasn't even aware that the fluidampr kit came with the crank hub at all. So, I'm guessing that I would see a better gain out of the fluidampr pulley kit rather than the underdrive pulleys??? I was looking for an excuse to get rid of them anyways..

depends on what you mean by gain. The fluidampr is a dampner. It doesn't underdrive your PS pump/ac compressor or alternator. Therefore, they don't "CLAIM" any hp gain from their pulley.
It will reduce harmonics though.

Check with ATI. I think their SuperDamper for the LT1 is available in two different diameters.... 7.5 or 6.75". The ATI also comes with a keyed billet hub, and the bolt pattern (damper to hub) is not the same as the stocker.
