harmonic balancer pulling question, help quick
harmonic balancer pulling question, help quick
We aren't even midway through a cam install, new cam, lifters, valvesprings, roller tip rockers, torque converter and hit a big snag. Spent almost 2 hours trying to pull this harmonic balancer off using a harmonic balancer pulley puller.
First attempt destroyed the head of the bolt. We obtained a new bolt but removed the bolt and needless to say forgot to put it back in before ttrying to pull it again, pretty sure we skrewed up the first few threads, that can be dealt with later. However after reading the other threads on this I don't see how putting the bolt halfway in will aid in our removing the balancer. I've almost bent a 3 foot breaker bar on this thing already and it hasn't budged an inch, going all out on WD-40 etc on the next attempt, could really use some help, trying to pull the harmonic balacer and the hub behind it at once and getting absolutely nowhere slow and running out of days off.

From the looks of the marks in the center, I would say you might be using the removal tool to push against that part. That is not the end of the crank, it is part of the hub. That is why you put something down in the bolt hole or unscrew the center bolt a little to push against it.
