Hard start '94Z

Very hard to start my '94Z in warm temp after it sits a day or two. It eventually starts after a lot of winding on the starter. The engine has 98000 original with only the opti replaced several months back. Thanks for any help.

u mite want to add a sig so that everyone knows what mod that have been done. mine did the same and ended up being a check valve in the fuel pump it started out bleeding down slowly and got worse in time. does it prime up when u turn ur key on? the best way to check is get a fuel pressure guage then youll be able to figure whats up. could be one of many problems just start testing...

To expand on the first response, when the pump primes, it should be at about 40psi, and not lose that pressure rapidly. If it does drop quickly, it could be the check valve in the fuel pump, a broken diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator, leaking injectors, or leaking lines. A quick check on the leaking injectors - put the accel pedal on the floor before you try and start it. If its flooded because of leaking injectors, putting the pedal on the floor puts the PCM in "clear flood" mode, and it may start easier. For the fuel pressure regulator, pull the vacuum compensation line off the FPR and look for wet fuel in the line. The check valve in the fuel pump seems to be the hardest to pin down.
