HAHA Odometer Idea, read
Anybody else ever think of this idea....not that Im gonna do it cuz its pointless since im keeping my car forever, but anyway.
With LT1Edit or Tunercat you change the settings on the speedometer so the computer thinks you have gigantic tires, like 20ft diameter tires. Then you get a aftermarket mechanical speedometer for your real speed, and real odometer reading for yourself. The speedometer says you are going like 10 when your going like 100, which inturn makes the mileage lots lots less on the car (at least it thinks so).
This would be a good idea for a leased car or something, or something you are gonna have for a few years then sell.
Im not promoting this idea, I know its probably illegal, so Im just thinking stupid out loud.

Since the LT1 computer works with 8bit data, there is only so much resolution in the computer as far as values go. This is why hex is used to some extent (base16), but there is no reason for the computer to have been able to allow tires with say, a 100" diameter.
So, there is going to be a feasible limit, there are other ways, like simply defeating the speed sensor.
Its illegal as mentioned, and I dont feel the desire to use the method, too much pain for too little gain, as well as the legality issue. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Drive in reverse to remove miles on the odometer.

I guess that only worked with the old mechanically driven speedos. While it's always been unethical and/or illegal to roll miles back, rolling them forward is another matter. When I used to buy OEM "company" cars as an employee with 3000 miles on them, it wasn't unknown to roll the odo ahead few hundrerd (or thousand) miles by disconnecting the speedo cable at the transmission, attach a heater blower motor to it and run it at 3000 rpm or more. 1000 rpm on a mechanical sped is 60 mph, if I remember correctly, so it didn't take all that long. We processed more cars though the system that way.
