Had to take the SS to the car doc!!

my SS was acting up so i decided to take it to a great local mechanic to get it checked out,,the car hesitated at low RPMs, and had a horrible exhaust leak up front,,, well after dropping it off to him, he checked the EGR valve it was stuck open, the Crank sensor was bad, and the manifold bolts were loose,,,so he fixed the manifold and ordered the other parts,,hopefully the car should run better now.

the EGR valve, being stuck open can cause what he was describing, it can also cause misfires. little bit of carb cleaner clears it right up

I understand that Richmonds are noisey---supposedly because the cogs are more angular, which in turn makes them stronger than the straighter ones. Don't quote me on this. It is just what I have heard. My recommendation would be to go with OEMs, and use solid spacers instead of crush sleeves.

I too have a Blk 97SS. I went with the OEMs. The 410s will make the 6th gear actually worth something. I believe it runs around 2 grand +- at 70 mph.

I have had 4.10's in my SS for about 5 or 6 years.....I wish I could have like a 4.30 gear....but the 4.10's are an AWESOME gear. You WILL love them.

check the connection and condition of the harness to make sure it is not damaged. take the sensor out to ensure it hasn't made contact w/ the reluctor gear.

You have the right idea, but backwards

Richmond = straight cut gears.. stronger/noisier.
