Mine only pops when cold too. I know alot of guys with LS1s and they pop too. Everyone I know that has little to no backpressure on their car has this problem.

My friend with an 02 with GMMG, LTs, ORY has no popping. Loud as hell but not a single pop. I on the other hand, 94 with GMMG, LTs, catted Y have popping all the time. Kinda pisses me off, but I'll deal with it I guess. When my friend rode around with open headers it didn't pop once, or we were too deaf to hear it.

I haven't heard mine pop in quite a while, weeks at least, and I drive pretty harsh sometimes. Don't know if Ion's tuning helped or not. Just rumbles when I let off the gas in gear.

Huh, mine never did this with or without headers. Very infrequently when it is cold in the morning and the car is cold I hear a slight pop, but nothing like you are describing. Got to be the tune.

Like stated, these cars are tuned from GM to be on the rich side so we don't all burn out engines up. A good tune will 95% of the time get rid of the popping. Also like stated, exhaust leaks will cause this, as will ignition problems, but most popping is caused by a rich burn. That's why it only does it on cold start-up for some of you. It still runs a bit rich on cold start up, even with a tune.
