I still don't understand why people are so skeptical of a big exhaust system. I ran Hooker long tubes and the mufflex 4-inch on my otherwise stock 96 TA to the tune of 13.3 @ 106. Then I went 12.9 @ 111 after the hot cam kit. Still no headwork, still no pcm tune. This is with an M6 on nitto all-weather tires. Some people don't know as much as they think.

My car has a 3.5" cat-back on it. I was told it was a MAC exhuast when I bought the car, but I don't see where MAC offers a 3.5" system. Any ideas?

12.9 is nothing to brag about with the Hot Cam, long tubes, and 4" exhaust. Don't get me wrong, they are decent numbers, but there are people running low 12's with the Hot Cam and shorties.

Somebody said this wasn't good, someone said that wasn't good...blah blah blah. I only halfway believe what I hear from most people. And usually none of what I hear form someone saying "someone told me this and that". One person says it is not good, then they tell someone then they tell someone and then everyone thinks its a bad idea, when it could possibly be a great mod to do.

Sorry for ranting, but I just ahd to post that.

Yes I have learned that most of this car stuff is all based on OPINION, yes opinions are good but everybody has a different one!!!

Thanks to all you guys that have tried to assist me.

Please don't take this as being rude to anyone, but there are two pages of stuff that still hasn't answered my questions!!!!

And WOW some of you guys on the LT1 tech forum here take stuff way too seriously

But once again thanks to those who've tried to help, and anyone that wants to still chime in is more than welcome

Okay, I'll bite and answer your question. It's not hard at all, just unbolt the cat from the cat-back pipe, maybe a bit rusted and difficult, but just put your back into it. After those are off, the rear pipe will fall down, just take a big metal post (I used fence posts, like they use for street signs and snow fences, shove it in there, and bang away on it with a mallet/sledge. Every so often start the car up and floor it to blow the chunks out. It'll take a while, but eventually you'll get it all. Oh, and make sure there isn't anything too valuable behind the car when you floor it, those chunks flying out can fly far and fast. And yes, definite inprovement both in sound and power, I now peel all the way into third.

Yeah, mine does only have one, but there shouldn't be too much difference. If I remember right (and it's been a couple years since I've looked), I think you're second cat might be positioned vertically, so you may just have to use a shorter bar, but otherwise it should be identical, just double the effort. You may need O2 sims also, not sure. Mine didn't, but I have the easy emissions system.

Hey, the starting the car up to blow everything out idea sounds like fun. I wish I would have tried it. When I did mine I used a shop-vac to suck up all the crap that was in there, instead of blowing it all out. I did it the boring way I guess.

Yeah, it is fun, plsu it's a beautiful sound to hear it floored with no cats. Sounds alot like NASCAR (which in all honesty I despise, but I have seen Days of Thunder. )
