Gut or remove Cat?

On my high mileage 94 lt1 wanted to know if id have any problems if i gutted it or welded a pipe in place of it give me some info people, thanks in advance.

it wont cause any problems and i would have an orp welded in instead of gutting it, much better.

If you want to be cheap like me, just take the y-pipe out and beat the inside of it with a pipe until the stuff falls out.

ill just pay to get a pipe welded in any downfalls to that? No SES problems right?

You shouldn't have any problems. I cut mine out last year, called an exhaust shop and had them cut about a 18in. section of 3in. pipe for me, costed about $5-10. Brought it home and welded it in place. The car with my mods was much louder, and you could hear the cam a bit more. A lot of people comment on the smell of the car but oh well, I like it.
