Which guages would be best? Where?

I have a 95 TA. Its pretty much stock (cat-back, cold-air, JET chip). I am planning to go LT4 conversion this Spring. Any suggestion as to which guages will help me keep track of things. I would like to get an air/fuel guage to keep track of that, but they only make them in 2 1/16", I want one in 2 5/8". Anyone know where to get one in the bigger size? I am going to put one in the A/C vent to the left of the dash, and maybe a guage pod, don't know yet. Oh yeah, the car is an M6. Any cool ideas that won't be too guady or tacky are welcome too. Any info would be great.

Also could some of you guys who have some guages mounted, post some pics, or email them to me. I did a search and it seems that "Injuneer" is the only guy with pics (they are great by the way). I would like any and all possibilities! Show me the way!

Thanks fellas,

Since you have an M6 there's not a lot of point in having a trans temp or oil temp...

A/F is pretty popular even though our O2's don't send that accurate of information to begin with....

Why would oil temp not be of value on an M6?

On the M6 and T-56 there really is no use for a temp gauge. On an automatic you have a trans cooler so there is some benefit there. If you put synthetic in it you won't have a problem + there's really not a whole lot you can do to get it cooler unless you start fabbing up a cooler for it. The fuel prs gauge is a good idea that will help you out if your pump, filter or inj die. The A/F is a good one but you'll need to throw a toggle switch in so you can read both O2s and not just one. I have a 97 tripple pod I moddified to fit my 95. The gauges I have are Vac, A/f and cyl head temp that reads both sides. The gauge thing really depends on what your more concerned with. I would be more concerend with the oil temp and not the tran temp.

It would be of value, but would just make more sense on a stalled A4...

So why would an Oil temp. gauge be useless on an M6. I don't quite understand your reasoning. It would be helpfull especially if you want to autocross your car. Just because you put in synthetic oil in your engine, doesn't mean you don't have to worry about the temp of your oil.

I would have to agree that a tranny temp. gauge is useless on an M6.

TheBiz, gauges are all up to you. A lot of people use the A/F gauge, Oil temp, Vacum, Fuel pressure, and cylinder head temp. There are many more out there. It's all up to you.

I didn't say anything about synthetic oil...my only point was that an oil gauge would make more sense on a stalled A4...sure it'll help you watch your oil temp on an M6, but there are other more beneficial gauges out there...

Difference between and M6 and a T-56? I have a 95 TA...any ideas what I have. I thought it was an M6. I didn't think there was much difference. I just figured they were different names for the same tranny.

Your M6 (manual 6 speed) had a T-56 in it (type of transmission)

Why don't you run through it one more time for me, nice and slow.... why would I need to worry about my engine oil temp if I had a high stall automatic, and not need to worry about my enginer oil temp if I have an M6......

I guess I'm a slow learner......

Either that or a slow reader...I said it made more SENSE to have one on a stalled A4 in order to keep track of the oil running through to make sure your stall isn't starting to go bad...I didn't mean that they're POINTLESS on M6's...

Comprende?
