Greetings from the Dark side!

hello, my name is Robert, i'm from placentia California and the reason why i said i'm from the dark side is because i'm a Ford fan and i own a 1985 Ford Mustang GT 5-speed. Now, before you tear into me for being a Ford loyalist in a Chevy Forum, i'm here to relay messages for a friend i know who doesent have internet access.

at the moment, he owns a '89 Chevy Camaro RS with a 305 TBI V8. he also has a LT1 engine lying around and he is wondering if a all the 305 TBI hardware will fit into the LT1 block (intake, throttle body, sensors, etc). his plans are to make a sleeper out of it.

any answers will be greatly appreciated

AFAIK, I dont think it will work.. Not without modding that is. If I were him, I would put a GMPP LT1 carb intake on the LT1, get a bigger TB, or leave it carbed, and run it. He will need larger injectors and a tune at the minimum going from a 305 to a 350.

Run the LT1 with a carb.. It will be best off if you want it to look like a sleeper!

The Thirdgen site has a section basicly devoted to this swap, almost a step by step installation http://thirdgen.org/techbb2/forumdis...=20&forumid=94

Re: Greetings from the Dark side!

I don't see any reason the TBI setup wouldn't bolt on and work on an LT1, however, anyone that knows anything about F-bodies is going to know that there's an LT1 under that TBI. First you're going to have a distinctive LT1 waterpump sticking out front, and you'll have a coolant crossover tube return line coming from the back of the heads to the radiator.

Coming from someone who used to have a '91 Camaro RS with a 305 TBI in it, your best bet is to ditch the TBI, get your summit catalog out and order the GM Performance Parts carburated LT1 intake manifold (this is the way I'd do it) or put an LT1 fuel injection system on the motor. If you did the whole LT1 fuel injection system you'd be able to get the PCM programmed for modifications as opposed to the TBI setup where you have to have a chip burned.
