Great news about the troublesome lt1!

First off, a huge thanks to the community for helping me through this mess of a lt1. Today I Mickey moused a fuel line (temporary) over the one that popped off. Started her, she sounded amazing! Aside from the exhaust leak. Drove around the block and did my first real rwd burnout (oops) . So the main issue was that the other fuel line was not fully attached..duh. Or the incorrect line was used. I'm soo happy with my z28 she may not look good but to me she's perfect! I was so close to giving up and selling but for some reason I didn't. I'll have to post some pictures and before and after videos. She came a long way from a rod knocking mess. Next issue to tackle, the exhaust leak!

I wonder if someone swapped the supply and return lines? They are slightly different sizes. Make sure the fuel pressure regulator wasn't damaged.

Regulator seems good, before this happened the fuel pump was constantly running. Now it goes on and off as it should from what I can tell which isn't much lol.

Gah this car, I need to figure out what type of fuel line to use for the repair. It's the feed line I believe because fuel just spewed out of the connector. I could be wrong as I ammost of the time...

Once the engine starts the fuel pump should run constantly.

The nylon lines connect to the hard lines using a "quick connect" fitting. Make sure you have the 3/8" supply line and the 5/16" return line on the correct hard line.

Re: Great news about the troublesome lt1!

So the hardline is where it is connected to the fuel rail, correct? And to connect the nylon to the hardline I need to purchase an adapter right? If so can I purchase an adapter at autozone? I need to check the fuel line size tomorrow. When my "mechanic" friend came over he said oh **** this is the line I replaced.... Doh. I believe it is the return now as it is the one that's coming from the regulator. I will be sure to check that they are in the proper connectors tommorow. The rubber line I have connected from the hardline to the nylon ATM allows for more flow, so I'm assuming the line on it now is
To small or mix matched. Then again what do I know, haha slowly learning.

Re: Great news about the troublesome lt1!

Could anyone post a picture of the lt1 fuel line connections labeled supply, return, and evap. I know evap is the smaller one going in another direction. Could a smaller 5/16 line attached to the suppose to be 3/8 line connector cause the adapter to pop off? I'm guessing yes because it's forcing all of that pressure in a hose that cannot get rid of it fast enough, also starving the engine of gas? Causing my rough idle and takeoffs and the computer to throw a lean code?

I don't have close-up photo anywhere, but as you are looking at it from the driver's side standing near the firewall, the large plastic line (supply) is on the right and goes to the pass side fuel rail, and the smaller plastic line (return) is on the left and goes to the regulator. Assuming stock connectors are there, you couldn't get the return line over the larger supply fuel rail connector, although you might be able to put the supply line onto the smaller regulator connector.

The nylon fuel lines have the quick connectors built into the lines. They are 90-deg bends. The entire 3-line bundle is replaceable, still available, and not very expensive.

The "metal collar"connectors shown in Shoebox's diagram are "straight", as noted yours should have 90* bends.

And this Shoebox photo shows one of the 90* bright metal connectors in the top photo, right side. There will be two connectors, and each will be attached to one of the nylon fuel lines.

Sounds like someone cut the connectors off your lines, and tried to attach them to the hard lines by slipping the nylon line over the hard line and then fastening it somehow.
