Granatelli Mass Air Flow

Are there truly any gains at all to be seen? Any differences at all?
(yes I did the search) but I just wanna know the answers to these questions. Has anyone Dyno tested or re-tested thier GMAF unit?

I had one, the car idled funny but I didnt notice much of difference, if any. For $300 there are alot better mods, or put the money toward something bigger.

Thumbs down

poo on the plastic Granatelli...if you're that hard up about replacing your maf, take everyone's advise and get the STOCK 85mm Z06 MAF, connector and a re-program...cheaper and you'll see more gains...

The Granetelli is over rated, I have the Z06 MAF and I noticed awesome gains, at least 12RWHP. There are stages it goes thru so you wont feel it instantly, after 50-75 miles it will reach its full potential!

For those of you that have the zo6 maf, who did your reprogramming? or is it a kinda plug -n-play. I just descreened mine and ported the stock one myself, is there that much of a differance?

there is 2 different available "Z06 MAF"s...

one from LS1speed.com that supossedly doesn't need any programming to work on an LT1 car, but from everything i've read about it it's flaky... no one really knows the correct Freq Vs Flow curve for it and not many people have gotten good results.

The Factory GM unit is what I'm running and does require reporgramming of the PCM. I know that Ed Wright has the correct curve, and I can imagine that Brian has it as well. I did mine with LT1 edit, from a curve that I got directly from a '02 Z06 Vette. This I've been running since the begining of '02 with no issues whatsoever.

The MAF is not really a performance modification. The only reason I suggest one gets a Z06 MAF is if they have the stocker fail, the cost Vs gains are very poor...

I think any gains people think they see from upgrading there MAF is all in there heads. Stock MAF is not a restriction till your making some serious horse, only reason to upgrade would be if your stock one craps out on you.
