Got some basic questions about LT1's, LT4's ect. Help me out Here! Thanks
How much HP does a bone stock LTI make?
How much HP does a bone stock LT4 make?
How much HP does a bone stock LSI make?
What did the LSIs come in? What all did the LT4s come in?
I heard the LTIs stock will run right around 13.90 to 14.10. Is that pretty acurate?
Thanks for the help guys. Just got the cash to buy one and wanted to know these things before i purchase. Thanks in advance.

Factory ratings are
92 LT1 - 275 HP Corvette only
93-95 LT1- 275 HP
96-97 LT1- 285 HP
LT4- 330 in the corvette, SS Camaro and Firehawk
98-02 LS1 - 305 in the base z28, T/A, formula........325 in the Ram Air/SS, 345 in the c5
Sounds about the right times for a stock LT1 car.....
I may be off a bit on some of these, but thats what I believe they are.....

LT4s were in some of the '96 grand sport corvettes (only available with an M6). THey also found their way into a few of the '97 SS and Firehawk cars. Not very many though.
The LT1 SS and WS-6 cars were rated at 305HP in 96 and 97.

Most LT1 6-Speeds dyno around 255-260 RWHP, which is a good indicator that they, just like the LS1 cars, were underrated to aid in Vette sales. Internally, their exactly the same at the LT1 put in vettes. The only difference between the SS/WS6's 305 HP and the 285HP lt1 is the Ram Air, and cat-back. Take it for what its worth. LS1 Camaros/TransAms, it is the same deal. They have the exact same engine as a LS1 corvette, yet the vette is rated higher. They dyno 300-ish RWHP bone stock thorugh a 6-speed, which again is a good indicator that their underrated to improve Vette sales. However a Vette does put down slightly better #'s because of the true Dual exhaust, and minor changes in the intake.
LT4 F-Bodies are few and far between. As someone pointed out, it was only put in a limited # of WS6's and SS's. A sure give away that your looking at an LT4 car is that the LT4 has different heads, and a bright red intake manifold to go with it.

I got another stupid question. Whats M6?
So basically the LT1s in the 95-93 make a lil less hp than the LT1s in the 96-97?
I'm probably going to buy around a 95' or 97' model. Or a Firehawk if i can find one.

they mean manual six speed.
yes the newer ones have more power but it is an exhaust thing. if a 94 and a 96 had the same aftermarket exhaust, they should put down the same numbers.
EDIT: o yeah, and 95 was the last year you could get obd1 computers, 96 and up have obd2 computers that are a little harder to tune

there was a total of 109 lt4 camaros produced in 1997, and an additional 29 firebirds. all 109 camaros are white with the hugger stripes, and i cant remember any special about firebird coloring. (maybe the white with blue stripes?) anyways the first 100 were done by slp as the SS with the stripes, and 9 were done by hendrick motorsports, again white with orange stripes, but they have different floor mats, b pillar emblems, and the one i saw had the enginewell signed by the hendrick and slp team.

LT4s were only available in 97, and only in the SS and Firehawk. They were available only in 6 speed hardtops, and had a complete list of SLP options to go with the LT4:

They do not have an LT4 VIN as the cars started life as an LT1 Z28/Formula and were sent to SLP for the conversion to the LT4. Also, the glove bock codes should list LT1 if I remember correctly (I can verify this tonight). Also, they do not have the R6V RPO (Firehawk RPO in 97) due to the fact that they were actually a seperate line from the regular Firehawk/SS cars, and are also numbered outside the regular Firehawk/SS number sequence. To verify that it is a true LT4 car (not a converted LT1), look for the SLP sticker on the end of the passenger side door, or call SLP with the VIN. All SS cars were white with hugger orange stripes, and all Firehawks were either black or red.
Bone stock, the LT4 SS/Firehawk makes 330HP (280RWHP). All cars were dyno tested at SLP to verify this before they were shipped to the dealers. With just ECM retuning (they used a stock LT1 tune for emissions purposes), the LT4 SS/Firehawk will easily dyno 300+RWHP.
If you can find an LT4 car, I would definitely recommend you buy it. They are a blast to drive and in my opinion, the best stock fourth gen f-body.
