Unhappy Got a problem need help

First of all hi everyone....I'm new in this forum....and hope we all get along....

here my problem I own a 97 Camaro and I have aproblem with the engine fan...once the engine gets hot the fan works on a low speed only which makes it hard to cool down the engine I tryed many things I changed the thermostat and clean the radator and even installed a switch which activates the fan earlyer...but when I installed that thing the fan goes on high speed even if the car is off?!?!?! which kills my battery....

any Idea what to do guyz?

First I'd like to say welcome all the way from Bahrain. Are you american or foreign? Just curious if there are foreigners driving our cars not that we care what nationality you are. Everyone is welcome here.

You may have 2 problems with regard to the fan switch. The first obvious one is it getting power from an "unswitched" source. Meaning you're powering it from a source that has power all the time. You want to move the power source to a "switched" source. So it only has power when the key is ON. That will definately cure the "when the car is off" problem.

Once that is done, you can see if you have another problem with when the fans are turning on. You obviously don't want them on all the time. Only after it reaches a predetermined set point. Say 180 degrees for example.

On my car the "temp switch" is screwed into the water jacket on the block. It will only turn the primary fan on at about 180 degrees. The PCM still controls the secondary fan. Incidently, turning the AC on at any temperature should turn on the primary fan. You want to be sure this function still occurs after you correct the problem with the power source.

Good luck and welcome to the board.
