Nice set of heads you have there. Should run very well.

About the 300 mark with 23 deg heads...getting that number with most heads I agree is a hard task...but with the right heads(Pro Action comes to mind)...a breeze also.

With my AFR 210's, the big thing for me was mid-lift numbers. With a 2.200" intake valve and little port work, you can see that they do ok mid-lift wise. I was actually more into the exhaust side (figure I am going boosted down the road).

-Lift---INT---EXH
.100--100.3--61.4
.200--165.2--115.9
.300--222.5--154.4
.400--262.5--209.3
.500--289.2--221.9
.600--301.4--235.8
.700--307.5--251.0

Next time around my head guy wants to play with the intake side. He thinks he can get the intake side to flow in the 350 range? Normally I would say that would be a stretch..but he does have some patents on cylinder head design...makes his own heads...so who knows. But at that point my small bore size will probably become a hold up.

I might as well just go to a big block platform and get mid 400's cfm and throw cubes at it.

I know when I had my heads flowed he explained how shops "fib" about numbers. One of the things he was told me that just letting everything cool off and flow your heads like that will give you up to 10 cfm more. I could see it because I was helping out and that air was very hot.

Never knew that about the air temp making a diff, very interesting. Congrats on the 4000th post.

Re: Got my GM LT4 LE2 Flow #'s

I recieved my LE heads last week. They were stock LT4 castings that had been CNC'd once already. Lloyd took them a step further and did alot more work to the chambers and the runners; these things are awesome and the work is top notch in my opinion. I don't have any flow numbers, but with2.08/1.60 valves I'm sure they'll get the job done.

Lloyd did an excellent job!!

That's probably the biggest intake valve size I've seen on stock castings...I'm only packin' 2.02s..

AFR advertizes 300+ from their 220's, 227's and 215 raised runner's. As do many other aftermarket head suppliers. Are you saying that their flow bench is happy?

Do a search. There have been a few people on this forum that have flowed their AFR heads and the numbers fell far short of the advertised flow numbers.

I think this should say "with many, many hours on the flowbench, highly skilled work, and a very large intake valve (i.e. 2.08"), you can sometimes break 300."
Yep... I pretty much agree!

My AFR 210's with the Comp package were right on par with their advertised flow numbers.

Re: Got my GM LT4 LE2 Flow #'s

The AFR 190's and 195's that we flowed at Thunder Racing have been 20 - 30 cfm short of advertised. The AFR 210's and up flow within 5 - 10 cfm, which we attribute to AFR flowing theirs on a 4.125" bore. Yes, it makes that big of a difference.

The 215 Raised runners are a whole different deal. I actually said, "300 cfm is not easy from any 23 deg, standard port location heads". A raised runner head can go upwards of 320 cfm with the right valve and porting.

Technically the LT4 ports aren't standard. They are raised a little which helps
