See any in where? Check the reservoir dip stick. Just fill the sumbitch up and see what happens. See if it gets low again.

btw, fill from the radiator.

Should I check the oil first to make sure I am not running it with a head gasket blown?

No, don;t get ahead of yourself yet. Start the car, the nfill the radiator until it gets to the top. Then when the level drops, add some more, do this until it stops dropping. Also, check the coolant dipstick on the reservoir cap.

If you even remotely think you might have a head gasket problem, then heck, yeah, I would check the oil first. The more you run it with water in the oil, the more damage you will do to the bearings.

Then your water pump is probably leaking. Unless your right and you've got a blown gasket. The water pumps are pretty expensive and a complete pain to try and change I had to change my about 6 weeks ago. And I took mine to the pros b/c there was no way that I could do it by myself..

Well I had a good suggestion in my other thread that the radiator cap could not be keeping pressure. It is kinda raggedy and broke. $5 fix if that is it.

I don't see any smoke coming out of the exhaust and there are also no leaks of coolant anywhere. Kinda easy to smell. I have a small oil leak from somewhere on the timing cover but that is it. How can you tell if you have coolant in the oil? Should it be obvious? How bad would the white smoke coming from the exhasut be. Would I be able to see it?

I have a CSI waterpump on there now, 2 months old. I'll check that too today when I get home to make sure it is still working properly.

The last thing I need now is a spun bearing. A new engine would be nice if I had the money though.

I blew my gasket it would take about 2 weeks to burn enough water for the light to come on... so I couldn't see any steam in the exhaust until it was bad enough to take 3 days to turn on the low coolant light.

Did you have any damage to the bearings?

Nope, I think the leak was slow enough that it was burning off all the fluid that came though. The oil looked completely normal. No foaming, nothing...

I wasn't getting a ton of steam, just enough to notice if I was looking for it (which I was since my water was disappearing).

just to re-affirm a prior post....when my radiator cap was not fuctioning properly I would have to fill my radiator every few days. I thought it was a head gaskey, but I popped a new cap in (just a regular Stant cap from autozone, for the curious) and its been good, I havent added any coolant since I popped the new cap on and its been a few months!
