Angry Got code key from AutoZone but wont work on my 94Z? wont flash codes?HHP+ problem??

Whats wrong?? I posted another thread about it and I was told to get it scanned..well they only have the OBDII and not the OBDI
so they gave me the booklet and the code key...what to do now?? will it flash the code on 94's?? Im doing things right but the SES light wont flash..the fans just come on....
Is this automatic flashing the "12" code or do you have to wait for a few min??? Im doing everything the booklet says just nothing is flashing...daily driver with problems...grrrrr...

the only fbody you flash the codes on is a 93. all the other(94 and up) are flash prom. they connot flash coeds.

Sad, but true.

You need an OBD-I scanner to read the codes.

I'm having what I think is the same problem. I have a 94 Z28 convertible and I'm getting an intermittent SES light. So I bought the Actron CP9001 GM code scanner and followed the directions in the manual and the only things that happen are the fans turn on and the check gages light turns on. I think that Shoebox may have already answered my question, but will this scanner work on a 94? The box said it will, but I've had no luck.

Thanks,
Steve

They market the CP9001 as a "scanner", but it is not. A $10 "scanner" is nothing more than a glorified paper clip (which is what you can use to flash codes on cars that are capable of doing it). The CP9001 won't work on your 1994 LT1.

that little glorified paper clip is a joke, Actron does make a scanner you can use but its not cheap, 120 for the scanner and 60 for the software. Its very vesatile though as you can purchase OBD2 software and cable for it and read just about any GM from 84 to 95 and all OBD2 vehicles.
