Got a bit of trouble - broke the throtle cable
Got a bit of trouble - broke the throtle cable
97 Camaro SS, no TCS. I snapped the throttle cable. A quick search leads me to believe 97 is different than other years & it's been discontinued. Awesome... Can anyone confirm this? If so, what are my alternatives other than a salvage yard cable?
Thanks.

Re: Got a bit of trouble - broke the throtle cable
Still searching for an alternative. Unfortunately, I broke it a long way from home so, I'm at the mercy of the Chevy dealer it got towed to. So far they tried a 95 Impala SS cable, too short. Now they've ordered it a 98 LS1 cable. Not too optimistic on that one. I gave them the part number for the 94-96 cable which I told them to try next if the LS1 cable doesn't work out.
Searching here, it looks like the Lokar is a good bet if none of those pan out. Those of you who have used a Lokar cable, which part did you order?
TC-1000TP Tuned-Port Hi-Tech Throttle Cable '85-'91 & LT1/LT4
TC-1000TP36 Tuned-Port Hi-Tech Throttle Cable 36" '85-'91 & LT1/LT4
TC-1000TPU Universal Tuned-Port '85-'91 & LT1/LT4 Throttle Cable
Anybody know the length of the factory cable?
Thanks.

Re: Got a bit of trouble - broke the throtle cable
Just wanted to update this for others who might need a throttle cable for a '97. The 94-96 cable does work, p/n 12550676. The cable is a 1/4" shorter than the '97 cable. The tech said he made up for the difference by re-positioning the pedal assembly. I took a look under the dash & it wasn't obvious what he moved. The assembly is held in place by a stud with a nut & a bolt. I guess he loosened those & moved the assembly up as far as he could. At any rate, the pedal response seems the same. The car idles where it did before, & putting the pedal to the floor pins the TB arm against the stop.
