Good Trade? A stock Maf for a Aftermarket maf?

this is a shot in the dark but maybe he needs the stock maf to pass emissions where he lives ... or maybe its junk.

He is looking to make a trade because he realizes the MISTAKE he made in using an aftermarket.
Stick with the stocker.

Keep what you have. It has nothing to do with emissions, he probably realized that he spent 300 bucks for something that either gave him no gain or actually hurt the motors performance.

Years ago when I first got a f-body I ran out and bought a Granatelli 83 mm MAF....this was when there were actually very few parts availabe for them...it helped my car big time.

Now of course I was running a stroker, ported heads on a stock tune so I was probably running very rich, but it helped.

I still run the unit and it has never given me any problems and it tunes just fine now....it has been 8 years.

For $50, unless it is broken, I might look into it.

But for your power levels, the stocker is fine.

The Granatelli only helps because they intentionally miscalibrate the top end of the flow curve to under-report air flow. If it works, and it doesn't always, that leans out the typicall "too rich" target A/F ratio used in the stock LT1 PCM power enrichment (PE) mode programming. For less than 1/3 of the cost of the Granatelli, you can get a mail-order PCM tune that will give you a guaranteed 10-15HP by altering the programming, rather than tricking the PCM with false MAF data.

Stay away from non-stock MAF's unless you are prepared to major tuning with a wide band and a data logger. Major PITA. If your setup is so wild that the stock MAF is a major restriction, go for speed density and ditch the MAF altogether.

I tuned my car for years with my Granatelli unit and had Bryan at pcm4less tune it a few weeks ago.

Never had an issue nor did Bryan.

Well, being that i am the one selling the unit in question, maybe I should comment I am having issues right now with WOT and figured I would go back to the . the car came with the granatelli so I never wasted my money. My only real question is if the bigger plastic ends of the granatelli really offers gains. I found a stock unit and the metal ends and the screen seem like they might be restricting. (?)
