good setup??
good setup?? The engines got 143K on it. It runs OUTSTANDING the miles were racked up 8 years ago from prev. retarted owner driving it all the way to mexico and back......=(
first a question. i want the comp cams 503 cam. im not sure if i should get the XFI, or the XE what do you recommend??
-based on the results of which compcam 503 to get thats the one it will be-
-3.73 gear in the rear-
i don't know of the best brands when it comes to this stuff. so what is recommended for valve springs, rocker arms, and push rods. my limit is 1000 maybe a little less if possible.(on a budget for remodeling apartment). i just need the car to push a little over 400 HP and ill be HAPPY.
again thanks again guys for not stabbing me with these noobish posts

Boy that previous owner must have driven back and forth a ton!!
As far as the cams go, XFI cams have some pretty steep ramp rates and I have heard horror stories about them just eating the springs up. Personally you might be better off calling and talking to someone like Lloyd Elliot and see what he thinks would be best for your set-up.

The XFI lobes are rough on valvesprings BUT there are valvesprings that can take them. Problem is folks try and use old part numbers or Comp's inappropriate recommendations. Comp's published recommendation is based on the published rpm range which is substantially LOWER than what an LT1 actually needs. Expect to need to spin 500-800rpm, maybe more higher than Comp says.
