Ive been looking at this 96 TA for sale and its got a new 355 engine in it(said it was an LT1). Its got stage 2 heads, comp cam, lt headers, 3 inch y pipe borla exhaust,a heavier clutch, intake and 4.10 gears. car sounds mean as hell. has new enkie v1 wheels, t-top, 6 speed and a 10 inch sub as well. looks like its in really good condition and it only has 6000 miles on new engine. says it runs a 12.8 and can take corvettes, he wants $8500 for it. does it sounds like a good deal?

sounds like a fast LT1...355 LT1 is a budget stroker kit, usually a rebuild...id buy it...btw from the sounds of what it has it should run much faster then a 12.8..more like low 12's/high 11's

93midnightta, I'm with you. I'm almost positive a 355 is simply a 350 bored .030 over. That would have to be an awfully small stroker kit, and if you were going to spend the money on a stroker kit anyway, why just go w/5 more cubes? That's not much extra displacement for a stroker. Maybe I'm wrong too, I dunno.
The car still sounds like a good deal though, especially w/a brand new or a freshly rebuilt engine. Does the engine have any warranties or anything? I kinda doubt it because of all of the performance parts, but it would be great if it did.

my dad and i are going to go back and look at it today and hopefully drive it. he didnt mention any warrenties but we are going to see if we can get it checked to make sure the engine is in good condition still.
find out who built the engine and why. Make sure to have it checked out by a trusted mechanic. Because there may be a reason the owner wants to unload the car quick. Also find out who did the tune for the PCM, ask for reciepts, oil change history, timeslips, see what the MPH was on the slips. Do a car fax to see if their has been reported pior wrecks. Check it out like you would ANY USED car
It sounds good to me, but remember sometimes if something is too good to be true it may just be.
