Is this a good deal for a T56 conversion

I can get a T56 conversion kit for 1590 Shipped. The trans has 70000 miles. Anyone know where I can get a good deal on one? Where did you buy yours?

You might find a tranny for that price (I've only ever seen one going for that little), but definately not a conversion for that price.

1590 seems reasonable, especially if shipping is included!

Yeah that's with the cost of shipping. The only thing I'm worried about is the high mileage. What do you think about the mileage?

70k is high but if its been taken care of it could last double that. If it has been abused then it might need syncros, etc....

I guess it's a risk of buying a used tranny.

sounds aboot right price wise... something to consider is that you probably wont want to keep that clutch...

70k is no big deal as far as mileage....ive seen many a T56 go 100k +

Hey whats up sorry I never got back to you! That is a decent price and if its from a wrecking yard it should be complete and most wrecking yards will offer a 30 day warranty exchange so I'd start working on it ASAP. 70K isn't bad really mileage means nothing on these cars, if an normal old lady drove one and kept the maintenence up it would probably last 250K without major probs. Now if Joe racer has it and doing 5K clutch dumps with ET streets it could have probs at 10K. The good news is it cost less to rebuild than your 4l60e did I'd say go for it, is that speed automotive? Again if you have any questions just ask or even give me a call if you still have my number!

Yeah I still have your number I tried to call yesterday but I think you were at work. Whats the time difference anyways? Here's what I've come up with so far

Billy Grahams 2000
GM Sports 1700
Speed Auto 1500

I still have some time before I need it so I'm going to look around some more. I'm going to try and find one on the board with lower miles/ price first. I think your friend sold his because he never got back to me.

Are there any other places you know of I could look? Didn't you say you bought yours from Speed Automotive for 1450? How many miles were on it? One more. Any idea how much weight I'm going to save with the T56?
