good choice for exhaust?

ive been doing alot of reading and looking at prices and everything lately for my exhaust setup. my car is bone stock and im starting with an exhaust. price is kind of an issue since things in canada are quite expensive to get so i just can't get the most expensive best stuff out there. but want good bang for my buck.
i have somewhat decided on the following:
MAC 1 5/8" headers with y-pipe
offroad pipe instead of cat
then hooker cat back to finish it off

i just want peoples opinions on this whether its good or bad. i want to know everything before i go and buy.

i hear the hooker cat back is good sounding and performs good and is the right price for me.

also what would be a rough estimate of how much hp and trq to the wheels i would gain with this setup on my car. also including a cai.

am i making a good choice or not. all opinions are welcome.

Well you get what you pay for in cat backs. You want cheap you get cheap. The only exception to the rule is a cut out. It would be perfect for your situation on costs about $70 for it and for it to be welded in and gives you more hp than any catback. You can use your stock exhaust for long trips all you have to do is close up the cut out, and open up the cut out for short sprints. My guesstimate would be 8-13 rwhp with supporting mods.

Coat your headers. Go with a random tech cat. Get a cut-out like the other guy said. Hooker catback is good sounding and flows good. Go with that setup and you will be golden. I've got bbk shorties with 1 5/8" primaries as well. Not coated. They give off to much damn heat. I'm thinking to replace them with a new set of those jet-hot long-tubes or get them coated. Best of luck to you. -Michael

i might plan on getting a cutout but for most of the time i wouldn't want it open since it would be too loud i think hehe.
so you say 8-13rwhp with headers, o/r pipe, a decent catback(or cutout) and a cai? man that seems kinda low for the amount of money.

it may be that little, may be more. Depends on how bad your cat is right now Otherwise, dont forget the basic mods like intake and exhaust dont do much now, but the more you mod, the more diff it'll make. Example:

It may do you 20hp now, but what if you did them after installing an 8psi intercooled supercharger kit?

i would hope a lot more than that hehe. i mean i see people say a cai will give u around 5rwhp. so that means i might only get like 3rwhp-8rwhp from the headers and o/r pipe and cutout. man all i can say is it better be more than that even on a stock car. i mean yea sure the more stuff u do especially to the engine the more power your getting because of the exhaust.

well what do i know anyway hehe. thanks for all the info so far guys. just kinda depressing me when i hear i might make practically nothing if i spend 1 grand. lol

what other bolt on mods would be good for me to do that might gain some power.
