is this a good buy???

hey guys. i found this motor online. is this a good deal? would i need anything else for it to go into my 93' z-28? should i get anything else or even upgrade anything? thanks.

Ok, see the price now...it seems like a pretty good deal to me. It seems like a fairly stout engine. With TONS of potential, I.E., a bigger cam! That is kind of a weak cam for a 383, I mean the lift isn't even .500. With a good cam in there, you could be making some serious power. But check to make sure the cam swap wouldn't void the warranty. I wouldn't mind having a 5 year warranty 383. If it meant I only had 420 hp rather than 480 for a few years, then so be it! Also, what do the heads flow?

That's not an LT1, or LT4 motor is it? If it aint, it'll take quite a bit more to convert and get it installed - do a search.

What about the intake, waterpump, carb, and distributor?

I think you'd be better off building/rebuilding your LT1
