Degreed the cam in correctly in his garage, it aint the timing chain.

Don't think I installed the opti, but it did run fine before.

The car DID run correctly, then all of a sudden started running bad. The opti is only being used for timing because I'm using a Delteq system, so I wouldn't think it's that I hope?

Timing chain is a Cloyes double-roller, brand new. I don't think it would have jumped a tooth this soon?

I do appreciate the input, just trying to figure out what would make it go from good to bad...I don't think those things would have changed, no?
Hydraulics should be a set it and forget it operation.If it were me I would back everything off and run the valves again with the engine off.It's easy to second guess yourself with this operation.

its definitly not the lifters or valve adjustment. It's is ignition related if its poping like you said.

I would lookin into your ignition. Or he might have a blow headgasket. My buddy with a 383 with a Vortec did that, it would pop like a popcorn machine.
