GM847 question...

For anyone who has this cam and is running stock heads:

Are you using 1.6rr's?

For anyone who knows their stuff:

Would you be able to run 1.7rr's with stock heads and this cam?

to have the 847 and 1.7s you will need a valvetrain from hell. The lift with the 1.7s will be like 610/630 or around there.

I'm running 1.6s but on a modded motor, the guide to keeper clearnace was close enough with the 1.6s. You need to do some height and retainer finangling to get it all set-up right.

Running that big a cam with that much lift on stock heads is really pointless. That is a big *** cam and honestly, you dont even need to run 1.7's with it. My buddy is running that cam with 1.6's on a set of hogged out lt1 heads and some decent springs and he's dealing with some valve float. If you feel the need to run 1.7's with that cam, i'd consider going to a solid roller instead.
