GM 847 questions

I know from reading in the forum that this cam is old tech. Also know that there are better ones out there that would give better HP numbers. My question is for anyone who is running this cam, what are their personal opnions on it? Driveability issues? Likes and dislikes? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Re: GM 847 questions

Your best option would be to do a search.

Its not a bad cam it's just an old one. I know of several people who have had this cam. I don't remember if you're an m6 or a4, but you defiantly need gears if your an m6 or at least a 3k stall if you a auto. Be prepared to spin the motor to at least 6500. get good springs and pushrods and your going to need a tune.

Re: GM 847 questions

It all boils down to whether or not you want to spend the money on the heads and valve train, and probably a dyno tune, to make it worthwhile, and how you really intend to use the car. It is going to be a dog for just cruising around and DD use, and really wild fun for high rpm banzai runs or trips to the track. For a street car, less experienced builders often overcam their engines and end up with a car that is just not that much fun to drive around in after the excitement wears off.
