Angry glowing header tubes

ok i had a terrible miss...to the point where the car would bout cut off when you try to take off....saw some of my plug wires arcing and so i figured it was time to change em. i took all of the old plug wires off and 2 of them were burned really bad. so i swapped out plugs and put some taylor wires and heat shields on. i was holding the throttle at about 2500 to see if there was anymore arcing and now i have a few header tubes glowing...what do i do next?

Re: glowing header tubes

If the car's sitting still for 10+ minutes with the motor reving your headers are going to glow.

Re: glowing header tubes

Because of the wire problems I'm thinking that there is a typical engine rich condition, plus excess fuel igniting in the tubes will cause the glowing.
Check that all plugs are connected and functioning correctly.

But for further insight:

Re: glowing header tubes

Did the plugs look evenly "sooted" or different, pointing to certain cylinders firing differently?

Re: glowing header tubes

I thought glowing tubes meant the engine is running too lean..

Re: glowing header tubes

The only couple of times I have seen glowing headers is when the valves were adjusted too tight. But that's not your case.
