Bro, i think you should get a new stock timing chain and an oversized gear to take out the slack that is commonly found in that piece. I think thunder racing sells the sprocket you need.

What is wrong with just buying the whole LT4 set?? I dont think there will be a problem with that. There are some people on the board who have done that and it worked just fine. I would rather spend the money on one set than piece on together.

from what was told in another post (about timing sets), you shouldnt just replace the chain, if youre set on getting a new stock chain you need new stock gears as well. an lt4 set is about 200$, the extreme duty is 300$, whereas if im not mistaken someone had posted that a new stock lt1 gears/ chain was 70$ or something. with the lt4 set (lets say you wanna replace the chain) you could, its a "true roller" or something. but you shouldnt just slap a new chain on those gears, replace both. just get the regular lt4 set if you have the cash and youll be more than ok fyi, ive got an lt4 set with my c306, limiter set at 6700rpm havent went past 4k yet, but im not worried. hth

Hey slashz28, thanks for the helpful imput. So all i need for my hotcam set up is the REGULAR LT4. Not the extreme duty correct? If so then thats good news. I need to buy the set tomorrow so i really need to know. That makes me feel better that you are running it with the 306 with no problems. Thanks again.

im not guaranteeing you "yet" that im running it with no problems, cause ive only driven the car about 150 miles so far and havent revved past 4k rpm im the second owner of this set btw. the previous owner i think ran it to 6300-6400 rpm or something. id say (and im really no expert) get it no need getting the extreme duty one unless youre running really high hp #'s. plus if you wanna change the chain later for whatever reason, you could without having to get new gears (as you would if you got another stock setup) good luck with everything man

Always replace the gears and chain at the same time, the stock timing set will work fine but if you want to upgrade to the LT4 timing set then the part numbers are - Timing chain p/n 12555887 Crankshaft sprocket p/n 12555886 Camshaft sprocket p/n 12555885
