Getting clutch info straight...

I have been reading up on clutch threads for almost 2 hours now. I have concluded that the SLP clutch is the best for my application. But, I'm am still pondering on some things...

What is the difference between the LT4 and the SLP clutch?

If it's the same, can I get it elsewhere cheaper?

I read the names TByrne and Justin Cromer in some threads, and how they sell these clutches cheap...as little as $288.

Any info is appreciated. Obviously, I would like to pay the least amount of money for the disc, PP, and TO bearing.

Also, if it's any relevance...I have a 95 TA with 57K, original clutch, clutch engages at the top of pedal, can't smell anything, still get a 1-2 scratch, don't know how to tell if it's slipping, but my dad told me it did when he nailed it when he drove it.

i got centerforce dual friction for about 300 also... not any more stiff than stock. and grips a lot better.

edit: 57k isnt a lot of miles... but you can tell if it slipping if the rpms rise with no corresponding movement.. usually easier to tell at WOT

I'm replacing mine right now and I didn't get any slipping or bad smell, just once in a while it would make a grinding niose from takeoff, more so if I let the clutch out at a higher RPM, after removing the thing, I can't believe it held up, the spaces between the pads were all worn away in some spots, and the rivits were just starting to touch. I've even been taking it to the track, seemed OK until just recent. Mine engaged right at the very top also, not much difference between engaged and not, so yours is probably on its way out also. I also noticed it was hard to spin the tires through 2nd gear, before it was easy, so maybe mine was slipping but I didn't notice it. Id keep an eye on yours

I have been, more so now though, just had it serviced and the GM dealer said it was fried and going out. I dunno whether to wait until it goes and try to get as much life out of it as possible, or just get a new one.
