i raced a guy the other day and he said we raced almost dead on 1/4 mile. it sounds accurate because my needle read ~110. with the way speedo's are known to be off by a little at higher speeds i figured i was going about 15 or so. but i was in 5th gear when i let off and had been there for a second before i let off. now, the car goes through the gears really quick and im wondering if maybe i have gears installed by the previous owner. the car is also faster than all the other lt-1 f-bodies i have raced including a 96 or 97 SS m6. i really want to know whats up with my car. thanks guys.

Jack both rear wheels off the ground. Make one complete revolution with a rear tire and count the number of times the drive shaft spins.

If it spins just a little more thatn 4 times youve got 4.10's, a little less than 4 and its probably 3.73's.

 

what rpm do you turn at 60mph in 6th gear.
stock gearing turns 1400-1500rpm
