Gears

Will 3.42 gears out of a newer S-10 work in the stock rear end? I was told that it was really the same rearend but different axle length. Is this true??

if your car has a 2 series carrrier they wont work. 3.42's are from a 3 series carrier...

not sure how that affects fit, but i think there are ways to make it work

What gears do you have now? If 2.73, then 2-series. If 3.23, then a 3- series. No difference in strength, just the thickness of the ring gear mounting flange.
