It is the other way around: Richmonds whine like crazy.

I had motive gm there are motive and motive gm a bit different in my 97taws6 I used to have. They were 4.10.They were very quiet and was happy with them.I then sold the 97 and put them in my 99taws6.They were horrible started whining..super loud...
Yanked them out and wanted to order strange or superior gm heard they are both quiet. My buddy/speed shop owner/gear installer ordered some richmonds and told me they would be good. They were 3.73's .They were louder than hell.Awful..out they came and went back to the 3.42 stockers. They are at least quiet. So not sure what to tell you.The richmonds and motives were installed professionally and I was there both times and they were to spec.Pattern etc. I don't have much faith in the crappy rear end and think it has problems holding spec.I am going to put 12 bolt strange in my 99 next spring hopefully and am going to install my carrier and 3.42 gm gears in the 96 vert.Good luck.I spent tons of money and time on gear swaps in the mickey mouse factory 10 bolt.

I have motives and they have been quiet since they were installed... I lowered my tire pressure on night though to race and it was at about 20 PSI and i think i cracked something because when i accelerate fast It feels weird.. Anyway point is it depends who installs them, dont go cheap and DEFINATLY change ALL of the bearings in there and maybe get a new posi.. I bought a replacement set of 4.10s same brand same everything because i love them so much... they have them on ebay for like 130 for the ring an pinion.. In my opinion thats pretty cheap.... CHeck around for a good reputation guy who installs them.. Dont go to the cheapest.. Remember you get what you pay for.
