Which gear is more quiet: Motive, or Strange?
I have a couple of questions about rear end gears.
First, is there a noticeable noise difference between Motive or Strange gears?
Is there a noticeable noise difference between 3.73 and 4.10 gears?
Is there a noticeable noise difference between stock gears and either the 3.73 or 4.10?
Why wouldn’t anyone with a M6 get rear end gears? Seems to me to be the best bang for the buck for just about any mod. We’re talking about a 57 RWTQ peak difference between the 4.10 and stock 3.42 gears (assuming 290 rwtq stock around 4000 rpm).

About 10% more tq with 4.10s over 3.73s. Quietest gear probably the OEMs (factory GMs)when set up correctly.
M-6, top gear is a dog with 3.42s and actually does something with 4.10s.
Even with the magnified TQ with lower gearing you are still going to have even more trouble hooking up.JMHO

id say it has to do with the pinion depth and lash being set properly more than the brand of the gear. however, ive heard that a higher nickel content (harder material) can cause the gear to whine more. i had a good friend of mine who is a gear specialist do my 4.10 in my 1995 m6 z28 and it does make a slight noise during acceleration but nothing annoying. the pinion depth was set to exact specs too. it's a strange 4.10 gear
Setup setup setup..... the better the setup the lesser the noise, regardless of gear manufacturer...
there are other variables in gear noise too, panhard/lca/torque arm bushing type (poly, heim, rubber), exhaust noise (the louder the exhaust, the lesser the gear noise
)...
As for who makes the best gears, can't go wrong with Motive or Richmond.. strongest, well then you get into the 7.5 vs 12 bolt debate, physical gear size is the stength limiter on a 7.5.. though you can build them to take some abuse..

Just for your information. When ever you goto a 3.73 or higher, your going to get more noise. So dont get ur hopes up. Also if you dont have the allumimum driveshaft, it will at time vibrate at higher speeds.

I'm glad that you brought this up, because a 4.10 gear would finish out 4th at about 103-107. Too early for what I plan for my car. I would like to run faster than that in the 1/4 mile, and that would mean an extra shift with the 4.10 gears.

My stock '97 M6 with 3.42 in 6th gear does 84mph at 2000 rpm. That's what my gauges read at least. The calculator says it would be 89 mph, and I get 84 on my speedometer, so one of us is off a little.
