Gear and Clutch install!? $$?!?

ive gotten quotes from 250-400 for my clutch a PP

and 325 is the best price for laboron the gears and thats from SPEED INC.

Are these prices fair? the best price on the clutch is 244.. speed inc wants 325.. and there like 30mins - 45 mins away from me

are they bending me over or is that fair?

for the gears they recal the spedo n stuff too (i guess that comes with lube?)

I paid $298 canadian (tax in) for my clutch install. That was from my local GM dealer. Check out a local dealer and see what they want for an install. You might be surprised

Not sure what a gear install might be worth though.... hopefully i'll have 4.10's in my car when this damn weather clears up! I'd get someone thats experienced to do your gears to make sure they remain quiet throught the life of the rear end.

Do it yourself if your somewhat mechanically inclined youll gain knowledge as well as a new clutch as for the gears I would have a pro do it. And that doesnt seam that bad as I have seen it go for 400-500. Here is a coupla links for clutch installs http://www.zmydust.com/lt1clutch.html http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/t56.htm
Good Luck

You are probably looking at 200 for a clutch install and btw 150-300 for a gear install.

This is exactly the price I was thinking ....go down to your local pep boy's , If i aint mistaking it is a flate rate of 200 dollars for a clutch install for rear wheel drive , be weary of people who install gears cheap beacuse when it comes to that you get what you pay for ......

Speed Inc. does pretty much specialize in Fbodys. I've been there, saw about 15 fbodys, a few stangs, and a few vettes.
